Newcomers’ Health, a study

Réseau Santé Alberta is funding a study on the health status of Francophone immigrants in Alberta, the West, and remote regions, particularly with respect to mental health (trauma, relationship impacts, substance abuse, suicide), chronic diseases, and the determinants of health.

The first research project lasts five years, divided into two phases:

• Phase 1: over three years (2020 to 2023) to better understand the health status of Francophone immigrants in the targeted regions, among other things;
• Phase 2: over two years (2023 to 2025) to develop specific research projects based on the results gathered in Phase 1.

The results of both phases will lead to research reports accompanied by knowledge dissemination and mobilization strategies.
