Active Demand

Active demand for French-language health services — just like active offer — is a very important issue for RSA and the Alberta Francophone community.

As Francophones, we have a key role to play in improving access to French-language health services. It is in our interest to express our need to be served in French. Moreover, the act of requesting service in French demonstrates the need.

Expressing this essential need as individuals, as a community, is a powerful incentive for our health system to act. All the more so since the Government of Alberta has adopted a francophone policy. Through this, it commits to improving services in French to support the vitality of the Alberta Francophone community.

It should also be noted that Alberta Health Services recognizes the Francophone population as a group requiring health programming adapted to its linguistic needs, and that more and more healthcare professionals and health system managers agree on the need to deliver care adapted to the cultural and linguistic needs of patients.
